What happens when you combine a .edu blog, PR4 post, dofollow & no moderation?

commentsWell we came across this today and I had to post it. It literally made me laugh for 10 minutes non stop. This is what happens when you combine a .edu blog + PR4 post + dofollow + no moderation whatsoever!!! 874 spammy links and growing!

http://mrzhou.cms.si.umich.edu/deplo…lock-drupalorg

Its absolutely crazy I mean some of them are not even comments just spamming there URLs and we all know Google only counts the first link to one destination page, but still they put loads of links with similar anchor text to the same place

874 comments wow , I think they removed moderation because it would give them easy traffic .

I am going to check them

ROFL the second post is really just plain spamming

  • Satdin

I don’t know have how many blogs with PR4+Dofollow+…

It is a great trouble to find like this blog. Any help?

  • http://www.blogaboutnothingatall.com Kai Lo

This is why I stick to Nofollow. It is not worth removing the nofollow tags. I want people to come to my site because of my contents, and not because they want to leave a comment just to get some link juice.

  • http://www.ilbloggatore.com Mauro – Staff “Il Bloggatore”

    Sorry for my English…

I think that removing “nofollow” tag is right, but only if there is comment moderation!

An other solution can be the remove of “nofollow” only after 5 – 10 comments!

    Good blog!

This is really crazy. It seems the post is deleted by the owner. I clicked on the url you posted and it shows page not found on the site. I usually comment on do follow only if there are few comments like 5 or 6, or just leave it. The fashion jewelry comment is the great spam comment I’ve ever seen.

Sigh….It is hard for me to get .edu blog, PR4 post, dofollow & no moderation.

    874 spammy ??? Wow

The second post is funny LOL. Yes, it is hard to find a dofollow blogs with PR3+ right now but there’s always google to help you find one :P

  • Guest

I think it is very good for SEO

  • fuadi

wow, i really surprised when read “This is what happens when you combine a .edu blog + PR4 post + dofollow + no moderation whatsoever!!! 874 spammy links and growing!”.

that’s not good with very much spammy…

  • http://www.snsfox.com/ Guest

You’re right, funny kind of linking. I think even a single link from there will not accept by google.

  • http://www.panamalegalpros.com Guest

Hahaha, that is awesome. I love how the second post is absolute spam and is in response to the first post. You got one-upped Yiwu!

  • http://www.loosapphire.com Tim

What a pity why I can’t find it earlier? LOL. I am sure that Yiwu would be a hot term since this article launched.

  • http://yourdailygadget.blogspot.com Guest

what are you talking about? those look pretty legit to me lol. how do those guys stumble across you in the first place?

  • http://www.easy-article-rewriter.com Guest

Haha. How many links? That is just taking the pee big time. It’s bound to happen when an authorative blog like that doesn’t get moderated. I’m suprised that it is not being run properly. Surely it must be within someones job description to manage that blog.

  • http://cowd.org Cristi

I really think that even links will not be removed, google will notice the spam..

  • http://www.mirajpatel.com Patel

Well, I’d figure that the long link posts are just bots. I always get a bunch of those kinds of comments, but I have Akismet running, so it catches virtually all of them (I also have comment moderation for comments with a link in them if it is the commentators first comment)

I think moderation is a must for dofollow blogs and can not undrerstand the described situation.

  • http://www.companiesmadesimple.com Katie

    Great post!

I aggree that moderation is a must for “do follow” blogs, it is the same old thing the minority ruining it for the majority.

I think blogs are about conversation and if some adds meaningful content to your blog in the comment field then they should be trusted to link to a reputable site.

Many thanks for this post – really interesting.

    Katie

  • http://nascarcollectibleshop.com Scotty Mack

How did you ever find that? I would love to be able to find that kind of a site every day!

A couple of points that were made by those commenting do not appear to be accurate:

“Guest” assumes that Google will not accept the links because they are spam. The robot doesn’t know the difference!

Also, Google is now ignoring the “nofollow” tag. Using it does nothing to protect your site or blog from “losing juice” from outbound links. The only way to protect yourself is to monitor every single comment and remove the links yourself!

There are a lot of these junk links in some websites, and it seems that these can help to rank well in google.
So most of us do not like this kind of spam

  • Michael

Gotta hate spammers!! As far as getting links to pr4 sites, its hard to do!

  • http://www.empoweredseo.com/ joel

  • http://howtonaturallyloseweight.org/ Saul Peterson

Just thought I’d see what happened on one of my blogs when I enabled dofollow and lifted the moderation.
These spammers are like vultures. Within 20 minutes I had a list of ‘useful’ comments as long as my arm.
Sure we all know the benefits of .edu links and high PR, but sooner or later google is going to find some way (if it hasn’t already) of blocking or removing the blogs which offend this way.
BTW, I’ve changed back to no follow and moderation so don’t bother trying to tell me how good your viagra sites are guys.
