Yahoo engages more people than Google

One of the latest news from the world of search engines from US is that, Yahoo is capable of engaging internet users more than what is possible by Google. The number of users is always the top for Google as compared to Yahoo.

The average hours spend on Google by visitors is around 1. 18 hours where as Yahoo managed to keep visitors on the site for an average of 3.33 hours. The reason behind why yahoo can keep visitors interested in their site than Google is something that has to be investigated, but it clearly paves light to better search results, better customization and lot other factors.

When the engaging of Internet Company is considered, Yahoo is never the leading, since AOL has taken that place. The study has shown that, the time spend for internet is increasing with age. People having job and other opportunities for internet usage and falling under the age group 35-49 is found to have more usage for internet. The studies have taken the most recent results from the world of search engine in the month of July. The impact of Yahoo on people is of course a surprise when Google continues to be the giant in the search engine market.

Most of the search engines come up with updates for users on a periodic basis. One of such updates that came as a topic of discussion in the recent times is the page rank algorithm update from Google

Yahoo with robot programs to block phishing

Search engines have more responsibility towards the users than merely to help them in searching for particular information. Along with this basic duty, they should ensure that users are protected from spam and phishing by acting as a police in the internet.

Yahoo has successfully tried to grow up to the expectations of their users, that search engines will protect them from abuses. The robot programs of Yahoo involve actions to identify emails, chat rooms and other websites where improper activities are taking place.

The robot programs are supposed to interact with people in chat rooms and through instant messaging, to find out the phishing activities involving password hacking and stealing of confidential information.

The actions of the robot programs can be either active or passive. Through such actions, they come up with the addresses or URLs of sources of such abusive communications.

The robot will sign into the web pages. They look into the chat rooms and other news letters and start conversations and respond to emails. Through these actions, they pro-actively take part in the steps to locate spasm and other phishing works.

Once the source is identified, Yahoo will try to stop such actions by warning the sender or filtering such sites or disabling the accounts of such senders.

Search category Commercialization Index by Yahoo

Search engines usually collect different information from users. They display some of the information to users while most of the information is not revealed to them. Still recently Yahoo displayed some of such interesting information to the users. This is known as Search category Commercialization Index by Yahoo. Yahoo uses various methods for this. They measure the number of searches made under a category. They usually calculate the number of searches that have been made since the creation of that particular category. Another method to do this is the calculation of the searches that have occurred during a particular period of time. Another metrics is the coverage under a particular category. The total number of advertisers in a category will also be useful information for Yahoo in making this index possible. The average click through rate for the different advertisers is also calculated for a category. The life time value of the searcher and the average price per click are also considered while making measurements. This is highly helpful when you want to give information to advertisers regarding the number of people interacting with ads. It also provides detailed information on which all categories of searches provide the best advertising opportunities. There is actual information sharing with the advertisers taking place here.

The patent of Yahoo in importance of anchor text in Indexing

Right from the beginning of search engine optimization, you might have heard the relevance of anchor text in page ranking. Recently Yahoo obtained the patent that describes the relevance of this anchor text. The patent is relatively old and dates back to 2002, but it has some relevant information on using of anchor text. This patent describes the method adopted by search engines in using the anchor text for indexing.

This clearly explains the information on how pages will be ranked by search engines for anchor texts which are not directly present in their content, but rather are present in the links which refer to these pages. The process used is a simple breaking up of the anchor text into tokens after they are collected from various pages pointing to the same page through links.

Then these tokens are given weights which are evaluated and the page which has the highest threshold weight will be considered for indexing by the search engine. The weight calculation is done by some simple formulas which determine the frequency of the token in the anchor text of the link pointing to the page. This also determines the frequency of the token in the search engine index.

Why SEO marketing?

Initiating a website is not all that difficult. It is never easy to popularize a website through the support and assistance from website traffic. When you expect to have people crowding at your website, you always have to be conscious about the changes happening in the SEO world as well. You always have to be updated with the hot news of the SEO market to ensure your victory over your competitors.

Is SEO marketing the only method for obtaining traffic? No. There are various other methods which also have a better effect on the website traffic. Still this percentage is negligible, which again takes your concentration towards SEO marketing. Then, why again do people lose their visitors at times? It is because of their inefficiency to understand the market and the needs of the people.

Google is a highly ranked search engine. Most of people reach webpage through Google. So, never miss your luck with Google. Along with this, monitor the performance of other search engines and your focus will fall on Yahoo and MSN. They too will be able to have a greater impact on the number of people visiting your website. Never opine that you will not get traffic in Yahoo when you concentrate on Google.

McCain Googles his potential VP… and the Yahoo – Microsoft deal goes on freeze mode again..

It turns out that choosing a potential vice presidential candidate is no big deal, thanks to Google! Republican presidential hopeful John McCain jokingly remarked that the incredibly popular search engine has made his job of scouting for vice presidential hopefuls much easier.

“You know, basically its a Google!!”, he announced amidst raucous laughter at a fund-raising luncheon when asked to comment on how his selection process was going. He also commented that he found the reach of the Internet today to be remarkable.

Vice-presidential hopefuls go through an excruciatingly rigorous screening process to determine how much help they might offer to a presidential candidate to clinch the White House and to make sure that they have no hidden skeletons that might be damaging down the campaign route. McCain, who is a senator from Arizona, clinched the republican ticket earlier this year. He said he still had some time left to decide on Number Two.

Yahoo has finally gathered all the anti-trust information required to make a decision on giving the nod on an ad outsourcing deal with Google, but it has just begun to explore that very issue for a possible scaled-down agreement with Microsoft, according to sources. This means that any deal requiring Yahoo to turn over its search related business completely to Microsoft is not imminent.

February 1, 2008 was the date when Microsoft attacked Yahoo with an unsolicited bid for a full buyout at $31 a share. This led Yahoo to review various anti-trust ramifications connected with the issue. In mid-may, Microsoft withdrew its offer and came back three weeks ago with an announcement that it was restarting talks – this time around, the discussions were about a partial transaction and not a full outright purchase.

Both Yahoo and Microsoft will try to save time by using some of the existing anti-trust material gathered when the full takeover was on the table, but this won’t guarantee a speedier review process by the federal regulators. Representatives from both Yahoo and Microsoft declined to comment on the issue.

Update on Yahoo buying Google

Hi guys just to clarify so there is no confusion as we had alot of queries about yesterdays post, (plus we dont want to upset our friends at google) - It was an April fools joke.

To be honest I dont think anyone could afford to buy Google at the moment they are worth much more than 200 Billion in my opinion.

Final thoughts are google to live a long and healthy online life!

Google has agreed to sell to Yahoo for 200Billion!

google
If you haven’t heard the news yet you are well behind the pack! Google known for it’s catch phrase JUST GOOGLE IT has agreed to sell the company to yahoo for a whopping 200 Billion! That’s right folks 200 Billion Dollars!

It might come as a shock to a lot of people but the reality is yahoo already owned a stake in Google as they had given Google startup money. Google is now at the point where it has a huge market cap and has made owners Sergey Brin and Larry Page billionaires.

What will become of Google now that yahoo will take over ?

Well obviously Google will continue to run as is although a major restructuring is said to take place as yahoo plans to fire over 70% of the current staff who have not been able to control the spam that constantly fills the search engines and bring in full time black hat hackers as a major part of their workforce.

What will happen to the geniuses Sergey and Larry ?

Although no public statement has been released it is said that they plan to run a full time non profit company designed to help increase education in 3 world countries and improve the lives of millions around the world.

Seotops.com view on the whole matter- Well actually beautyinmd’s view on the whole matter is that yahoo has been around a lot longer than Google and is aware of the current market changes and past market changes needed to survive as a major company and Google was getting a little too drunk with power anyway so my only question today is- CAN I HAVE 10 MILLION PLEASE! - Because if yahoo has 200 billion to spend, maybe they can give me 10 million.

Stay tuned for more developments in this story as this could be a huge shift to the Internet community.

Are Yahoo getting set for a Microsoft takeover?

Information is finally coming to lights that Microsofts and Yahoo’s senior executives have made a breakthrough as this is the first formal communication that both companies have attended. Although no bankers attended the meeting it is said to have been a discussion on what Microsoft and Yahoo can achieve combined as a whole. Although Microsofts bid has been officially rejected due to the fact that it was an undervalue pricetag they are said to want to have a close look at Yahoo’s finances to consider raising the price. Although AOL were also very interested in Yahoo that has now probably been scraped due to the high price purchase of bebo earlier this week. You can read more regarding this over at CNET
