Using Twitter to Borrow Instant Credibility?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

tweeter-credibilityTwitter, Twitter, Twitter… it’s been quite a while since a day has gone by without hearing something about Twitter. If you don’t twitter, you just aren’t up to snuff. At least that’s what many people seem to believe, and they aren’t afraid to put in your face day after day. I admit that it can be a powerful tool for any website owner. But, I haven’t got too caught up in Twitterland. (Go ahead, I’m bound to have my hand smacked here and that’s ok with me!)

Sure, I joined and was active for a short period of time. Trying to make time to Twitter and keep up with the tweets is an awfully big task that takes up too much time, though. Sure, there are a few automated systems out there. Maybe once I find time to get my hands into those, I’ll get back on the Tweet-wagon.

But are you a chatty little tweeter? If so, you may be able to borrow some instant credibility from an authority figure in your field. There are likely many of them out there using Tweeter and hopefully you’re chirpy friends. If so, you can try to get re-tweets of your messages containing links to your website, blog, offer, etc…

This is something that Dan Zarrella talks about in detail on a new post at Copyblogger. The post has some nice information about stats of re-tweets. This method may be able to bring you a decent amount of traffic if done correctly and you actually get a few good re-tweets. But how easy do you think it really is to get those high-profile tweeters to do it? Have you ever tried this? What’s your success (or unsuccessful) story?

Japanese submissions

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Of course, English as a language is widely accepted as the language of the internet. However, what do you do when you get an enormous number of submissions in other languages? When the Sphinn social news site was launched, this problem plagued everyone. What was one supposed to do with the Japanese submissions? Maybe for English speaking internet readers this problem didn’t look quite as huge but truth is how was all the spam that got submitted to be monitored. Traffic congestion and mismatches were likely.

Thanks to Kenichi Suzuki, and developer Sera Hiroyuki, now you can breathe a sigh of relief because Sphinn Japan is here, a great step in the SEO world that’s going to help channelize things. It also does pave the way for the development of other foreign language inclusions in mainstream site building and submissions.

This is great news for internet marketers as it allows limitless growth and management in the online world. It’s a global scenario now; certainly the SEO and online marketing opportunities are likely to increase encompassing a much larger audience. With the SEO world getting bigger each moment, it is important to know that previous limitations may not be there anymore and this will help you increase your scope of work.

Digg Story Breaks the Record with 10k+ Votes

Digg

Ok so today I logged into my digg profile to see that there is a story with other 10K votes an amazing feat for any story of any nature. Although I have before slated digg in previous posts for the way the site is run, you can absolutley see the potential power of a strong story. I guess with about 10k diggs that site in question must of got a heck of alot of traffic with alot of subscribers and it generated alot of buzz as its all over the internet. Whether or not the story is true it just goes to show anyone using digg can see why it is labelled the top social site around these days

As you can see from the title I feel this story in question has broken the digg record with the most votes. There maybe another few that have like 20 – 30k votes but this is the only one that caught mine and a global attention. So if you have do let us know the URL if you think there are more that has the power of this story. Finally id just like to congratulate the submitter of the story and digg for achieving such a great feat. I say bring on the 20k with a killer story! :-)

P.S If you know any other storys that have achieved this feat do let us know

Digg is no longer user generated!

Friday, June 6th, 2008

The good old days are dead, what happened to you digg? The site that used to be user generated has fallen prey to the big guns and has fallen victim to there own success. Its a shame how we always see the same domains being made popular although the storys are so boring that my grandma would not even read! Just to entail how diggs algo has changed I would like to show you, or maybe they do not have an algo at all I believe they just have a few editors that will post.

Just take a look at this for one example:

http://digg.com/tech_news/Plurk_The_Near_Perfect_Lifestreaming_Experience_Has_Arrived

Over 200+ diggs and the story still did not go popular. Why because digg is a sham, the days are gone where the users got to promote which story they love no matter where the source was from. Now BBC, CNN, Techcrunch and all the other big guns have a slice of digg and noone else can get there foot in. Yes you heard it right here digg and other big user generated sites are abusing there members to bring in the fast cash they are taking advantage of the web 2.0 bubble and if they dont sort themselves out they will end up bursting it.

An update this story has now been classed as inaccurate apparently by users!! hmmm I wonder how that can be when it got so many diggs in the first few hours. Again work of editors not users they have no right its not adult, gambling or spam, with this many diggs it should have gone popular but theres no way they would let that happen
