Google has recently made attempts to make users to go for Firefox if they have been using internet explorer as their browser. Google has been provoking Gmail users to change their browser to Firefox or Chrome. As an initial step for this, messages like get faster Gmail was displayed to the users through their Gmail account.
The message came with a link to the pages which showed their support for the two browsers by Google, firefox and chrome. They explained that, Gmail will run faster in these two browsers as compared to other browsers. In this support page, Google also speaks about the latest and faster version of IE8, which is under development. They have suggested that users can download the beta version and provided a link to the page from where they could download this.
The most interesting of this is that, the message is being displayed in the accounts of users who are trying to access gmail from IE6. This is intended to promote these two browsers. The question of whether this attempt is justified or is reasonable remains unanswered. Google has the freedom to make sure that their products are safe. However, they should give users the freedom to take decisions instead.

Local web pages in the personal computer of users could be a main place for attack through internet. Mailing websites like gmail will not be able to do something which will prevent internet attack from directly affecting user’s desktop by sending downloadable pages to the local machine. The security policy implemented by Google chrome has various security features which prevent the attacks that can happen through the downloadable pages. This will help users to be safe from attacks through pages downloaded with Chrome and opened with other browsers.
Chrome will use the mark of the web technique to mark a website so that when other browsers like Internet Explorer sees the page, will consider the page as unknown site.
If the user has a default browser, pages downloaded by Google chrome will be launched using the same default browser. This page will be allowed to view like any other web page, by bypassing the security protection that is integrated in the site. This will help an attack to be successful as well. This case is seen in many browsers, but chrome has successfully implemented their security policy 101. Chrome has provided a facility, wherein the browser will ask for confirmation before downloading the pages.
