PPC Oppurtunities

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

We’re all pretty familiar with the well reported search landscape of the US/UK. But, in other parts of the world, the search engine landscape is very different. So, it becomes essential that you identify with the larger picture, and thus knowing search engine markets in China, Japan and Russia helps for all who are seeking PPC opportunities in countries where Google is not the last word and where such PPC opportunities are limitless.

If you’re keen in the Chinese market, it’s good to know that their online growth is phenomenal and they are projected to be very important in regards to online advertisements and e-commerce in the coming years. In the Chinese domain, Baidu is the foremost search engine and leaves Google trailing far behind. Though it is argued that Baidus policies aren’t crystal clear and their search quality is questionable, they continue to be leaders.

If it’s the Japanese market that interests you, it’s Yahoo! That rules the roost. However, one must remember that Japanese search engines will not reveal actual search statistics. It’s a very potential market because there is a large number of web users and too many people use mobile web services too.

The Russian market shows allegiance to Yandex with Google trying hard to find a foothold. Certain countries even have government exposure in the search engine front, so be careful where you venture with your PPC opportunities.

Email to boost SERP

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

When a Keyword enriched Title, META tag, highly targeted Content or even an incredible domain name fails to create a desired impact in SERP, people find out different off-site optimization techniques, email marketing is one such way, which can earn you a real filter willing visitors to your website to boost up your SERP, keeping along with the age old philosophy – one hit counts works as a positive vote.

Today’s SEO consultant leaves no stone unturned to get the email database, but the problem becomes authentication, SPAM filtration and prohibited email-ids. The trend of sending a newsletter is not new, but to optimize the newsletter to the hilt is the need of the hour. Mostly emails consist of information, which interests commners. Lets take an example, a free report of his website’s performance make him always inquisitive. A product survey or a free participation in a prize draw or even a phenomenal discount on renowned products/ brands mostly lure the visitor. Once the user reads an email, there should be a link, which will provoke them to click on and the landing page should be equally interesting, which ensures the retention. The
email should communicate several messages, which will attract them to click back.

As SPAM and authentication are highly inter-dependant, one has to take up the enormous potential of technology to accomplish both. An email subscriber can enter anything and everything to his heart’s content in the subscriber’s field. The preliminary checking is done by some common tactics like embedding of the symbol @ in the Id, but a reverse email, where the user has to click a link to conform, will save you from an ashen face. An unsubscribe link at the end of each email can save you from legal hassles. Programs will allow you to send the mass emailing by iteration methods, which is capable of escaping the red eyes of popular emails like hotmail, rediff, yahoo or gmail. To doubly ensure, you can request the user to check his spam/ junk folder in the welcome email, send immediately after the registration.

Emancipation from the cherished tradition of using newsletter or email, focus on earning an inbound traffic. The success lies on the ability of exciting the user’s taste or choice with the glittering email inlaid with efficient programming techniques, that can surely convert them to visitors of your website.

When you buy links…

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

When most of the conventional techniques fail to yield the desired result, people have been found to adopt various unconventional procedures out of desperation. History repeats itself and the web world is no exception. At the initial stage people used to draw traffic simply by placing links in different sites and directories. The overwhelming popularity of Internet have lured most of the companies to develop and propagate through their web presence, which has generated huge traffic on the web, which in turn has prompted the webmasters of various websites to monitor even the bulk of inbound voluntary links. So, if a website owner finds his website in the higher rung of the ladder, he has started demanding a good amount of money even for placing a link of a site, who normally belong to a lower rung.

How can a website get a higher rank in the search results? In one word the answer lies in the incoming traffic or hit count. Why a new website wants to display a link in his site? The answer is very simple. As the chance of highlighting their products and services become much higher, they place advertisement of any nature in a high traffic bound website, based on the simple probability theory. The nature of business follows a similar pattern, where the most lucrative position always demands a prime price for displaying advertisements. Airports, railway stations, bus stops have always been the prime places for advertising over the ages due to their attractive millions gawking at them per minute. Similarly, a website, which can draw a sustainable amount of visitors, will surely charge a premium price for advertisements or links as it is capable of diverging traffic to your website.

In the web world, we must understand that even if a website ranks high, it not necessarily means that all the pages of the website are equally attractive to the visitors. Say the railway reservation site will a get a good amount of visitors when they ask for inputs of journey and even on the search result pages, but they don’t get that kind of visitors in the About Us page, or where they furnish their financial results or lectures. As the rule of the nature people visit a railway website to find out the desired train and for the booking process, but they are hardly interested in knowing who is running the railways, which interests only a particular segment of the crowd. So, when you are buying links, you need to ensure on which page your link is placed without going by the glamour of the page rank of the domain name or the home page of the website.

If you go through Internet, you will find many companies there selling links and they also assure links from good domains and pages. It’s better if you can find the list before registering for their services, so that you become an informed buyer, lest you never have to feel that you are cheated!
