Ok so today I logged into my digg profile to see that there is a story with other 10K votes an amazing feat for any story of any nature. Although I have before slated digg in previous posts for the way the site is run, you can absolutley see the potential power of a strong story. I guess with about 10k diggs that site in question must of got a heck of alot of traffic with alot of subscribers and it generated alot of buzz as its all over the internet. Whether or not the story is true it just goes to show anyone using digg can see why it is labelled the top social site around these days

As you can see from the title I feel this story in question has broken the digg record with the most votes. There maybe another few that have like 20 - 30k votes but this is the only one that caught mine and a global attention. So if you have do let us know the URL if you think there are more that has the power of this story. Finally id just like to congratulate the submitter of the story and digg for achieving such a great feat. I say bring on the 20k with a killer story!

The good old days are dead, what happened to you digg? The site that used to be user generated has fallen prey to the big guns and has fallen victim to there own success. Its a shame how we always see the same domains being made popular although the storys are so boring that my grandma would not even read! Just to entail how diggs algo has changed I would like to show you, or maybe they do not have an algo at all I believe they just have a few editors that will post.

Over 200+ diggs and the story still did not go popular. Why because digg is a sham, the days are gone where the users got to promote which story they love no matter where the source was from. Now BBC, CNN, Techcrunch and all the other big guns have a slice of digg and noone else can get there foot in. Yes you heard it right here digg and other big user generated sites are abusing there members to bring in the fast cash they are taking advantage of the web 2.0 bubble and if they dont sort themselves out they will end up bursting it.

An update this story has now been classed as inaccurate apparently by users!! hmmm I wonder how that can be when it got so many diggs in the first few hours. Again work of editors not users they have no right its not adult, gambling or spam, with this many diggs it should have gone popular but theres no way they would let that happen

Lately I have been experimenting with Twitter as there is alot of buzz surrounding the social site, so I decided to do an experiment just to see how much traffic twitter can deliver and is it worth it? Well I decided to do this experiment on this current blog for 1 month this was between April 14th 08 - May 14th 08. As you can see from the stats above twitter had been sending around 120 uniques a day which is ok. I have been carefully tracking these visitors and although I cant track how many people are personally bookmarking the site I can track my subscribers. So since I started this I have got a few extra subscribers than normal daily. But if you take a look at the bounce rate from twitter it is extrodinarily high with alot of people staying on the blog for less than 1 min. Therefore from this experiment I have learnt that although twitter has the potential to send alot of traffic how much of this is actually worth it? Ok it may be because of the fact that most people on twitter dont know what SEO is and I may have been targetting the wrong audience but I feel for most online businesses or blogs looking to bring in targetted traffic twitter is not the way to go.

Feel free to leave comments of your twitter traffic and if it has been succesful to your niche. One great thing about twitter though is the communications you can have with people and you can learn alot and obtain a lot of knowledge so just participating and speaking to a wide variety of people can give you a great headstart.

If you participate in the Twitter world you will know that having followers is the most important factor in communicating with other people and getting your brand name out.

You may be interested in Dancing or Music and may find a group of musicians you would like to get to speak to. Well as everyone knows the only way to do that is to manually follow people that interest you and hope they follow you back. It is quite a time consuming task to manually follow people so we have created a plugin for Mozilla Firefox that strictly sticks by twitters API so that the tool will not and cannot be used for spamming. The way this works is if you try to add a persons friends and they have around 30,000 friends the tool will NOT work as it is coded to only stick to twitters API of 200 Max.

Once the plugin has been downloaded and installed, you will notice in the bottom right hand corner of your browser a symbol stating “twitter grab”, this indicates that the plugin has been succesfully installed. You will then need to login to your account find the persons friends you would like to communicate with right click on there profile and there should be an option stating “Grab this Users Friends” hit that and the plugin should start working.

I know many webmasters who simply use social media sites to find relevant articles and sites that are popular to leave their own website link at. Wordpress blogs are great for commenting on if it’s relevant to your niche. Sometimes, it’s simply a Digg comment page that is relevant to your site, it’s even a better bonus if the page is older and has some Page Rank to it.

AOL has today stated they have purchased social media site Bebo. So what does this mean for AOL’s future - well we believe it is a great buy for AOL as it gives them a very strong launching pad to compete with Myspace, Hi5, and facebook, it is going to be very interesting as to what AOL will do with Bebo.

Bebo claims to have over 40 million registered users wordwide and with AOL’s takeover it is expected to rise very fast as they plan to expand globally as they are already one of the top players in the UK abit about bebo taken from the takeover statement below

We all know that Google are the most visited and talked about search engine in the world, but now they are looking to buy the hottest social media site Digg. This will be an amazing buy for Google as they will be further seeking total domination of the online industry.
