Newer strategy for search queries from Google

In order to comply with the private needs for websites Google plans to slowly do away with the search queries erasing them in a matter of a year and a half to two years. This came back to back with other group strategies which Google declared it wants to implement so as to improve its imparted services.

They will be opting for a new data retention policy which makes it virtually impossible for users to be attached to what they search for on net. The plan is that Mountain View Internet Company will cloud the information it collects about users who browse through Google. Google will thus purge mostly all private relevant information about the source of queries so that no one can trace the queries back to individual users.

Kurt Opsahl, an attorney praised Google’s decision declaring that it was heading in an appropriate direction. Previously AOL had made a high-profile blunder by posting 19 million search queries online as part of a research project. Unfortunately the information was used to identify some of the users arising in public outrage to be followed by a string of resignations within the Company.

Various foreign laws and cyber legislations in force enforce Google to log user information for up to two years in the legal context. Google said the reason for incorporating newer schemes were in response to the reviewed feedback from privacy groups and the Norwegian Data Protection Authority. Google said it believes in such regular updates which keep it off malpractices and disorders which are bound to creep into companies of its stature. It further reiterated that it wants to remove its deficiencies right from its roots instead of trimming just the shoots. Thus Google said, providing a transparent environment to users is all it is about.

Google to roll out with new image-recognition engine

It may be quite obvious but most people know for a fact that computers and search engines can’t really “see” visual images. Unlike humans, search engines are not advanced enough to interpret each and every object within images and this causes numerous problems for both Internet companies as well as day-to-day search users. When you tap into Google (or other lesser-known search engines for that matter), the search engine locates images using a text-based process. What happens is that the particular engine starts searching for text surrounding the image, such as captions and phrases within the links. The weakness in this searching process is that the results returned are not optimal, because the engine cannot recognize what’s in the image and instead churns out results while heavily relying on text to evaluate the content.

With Google announcing that they will be unveiling a new algorithm to eradicate frustration and difficulties pertaining to image searching, searching and collecting relevant visual content will no longer be tedious. This new technology has been formulated with the aim evaluate all the images on the Internet and rank them in order of importance whenever a search query is done. During a recent web conference held in Beijing, China, Google boasted that they are the first search engine to gain the ability to do away with conventional methods of examining images and their content to determine their relevance to a submitted query. They added that this technology works by recognizing a graphic-based pattern in a series of images. Then, using that visual benchmark, Google will then assess the relative importance within an image and comparing it to the rest.

Sounds confusing? Don’t be. Say if you were to search for “Nike”, Google’s brand spanking new engine will recognize the iconic swoosh instantly and groups a set of similar images and rate highly those that contain the logo prominently, instead of depending on the image captions alone. Nifty isn’t it?

Not since PageRank, one of the best search-based algorithms to surface since the year 1997, did other similarly significant tools pop up. Incidentally, PageRank was created by Sergey Brin and Larry Page who are, surprise surprise, Google’s very own founding fathers. Now with the advent of this new image-search engine christened “PageRank for Image Product Search”, you can bet your shares in Google that a new web revolution is set to take the world by storm. ;-)

Google Works With Online Privacy Officials

Google stated to the LA Times reporter that they were more than willing to work with online privacy officials regarding the online privacy of online users.  Privacy protection officials claim Google is holding user information and cookies for up to 2 years.  Google was warned in May of 2007 that they may be in violation of user privacy rules making Google be one of the first engines to cut down the time they store cookies to 18 months and later to 13 months as time passes.  (Imagine Google being the one being warned!)

The new requirements are recommending that Google and other search engines should only store cookies for up to 6 months.

This could play a big factor in Google’s current ways of providing users with targeted ads.

Google was reported last Friday to say they were looking forward to helping the online privacy officials to explore ways to improve privacy online for all internet users.

As an Internet user myself, I have to wonder what way Google will use to get around this so they can continue to target users with geographically correct advertisements, as I know this is a big business for Google and it’s advertisers currently.  Will it be an opt in to Google Ads? Or will they just simply have to reset the cookies once every 6 months in order to comply with the privacy issues under the gun?

Google to Sell Performics and Axe doubleclick staff

Well it has been just over a month since Google aquired company Doubleclick. They are said to be axing upto 20% of Doubleclicks staff. Today, we are laying off some DoubleClick employees in the U.S. and placing others in transitional roles,” Google said in a statement.

Google has also decided to also part ways with Performics the SEO company that was also part of the Doubleclick Aquisition. This actually comes as no suprise as the saying was “What would Google do with an SEO company?”.

There has also been a shakeup as to when google purchased Performics it created alot of conflict as to what google were going to do and damage its relationship with alot of SEO companies. A key concern in the SEO area was that Performics was to obtain special treatment to information about Google’s search-engine algos, putting all other SEO firms at a distinct disadvantage. There was also further concern that Google would push its in-house Performics Search engie marketing services at very reduced rates. There are currently no reports of a buyer for Performics but alot of interest has been shown.

We will see how the sale goes in the near future

Update on Yahoo buying Google

Hi guys just to clarify so there is no confusion as we had alot of queries about yesterdays post, (plus we dont want to upset our friends at google) - It was an April fools joke.

To be honest I dont think anyone could afford to buy Google at the moment they are worth much more than 200 Billion in my opinion.

Final thoughts are google to live a long and healthy online life!

Google has agreed to sell to Yahoo for 200Billion!

google
If you haven’t heard the news yet you are well behind the pack! Google known for it’s catch phrase JUST GOOGLE IT has agreed to sell the company to yahoo for a whopping 200 Billion! That’s right folks 200 Billion Dollars!

It might come as a shock to a lot of people but the reality is yahoo already owned a stake in Google as they had given Google startup money. Google is now at the point where it has a huge market cap and has made owners Sergey Brin and Larry Page billionaires.

What will become of Google now that yahoo will take over ?

Well obviously Google will continue to run as is although a major restructuring is said to take place as yahoo plans to fire over 70% of the current staff who have not been able to control the spam that constantly fills the search engines and bring in full time black hat hackers as a major part of their workforce.

What will happen to the geniuses Sergey and Larry ?

Although no public statement has been released it is said that they plan to run a full time non profit company designed to help increase education in 3 world countries and improve the lives of millions around the world.

Seotops.com view on the whole matter- Well actually beautyinmd’s view on the whole matter is that yahoo has been around a lot longer than Google and is aware of the current market changes and past market changes needed to survive as a major company and Google was getting a little too drunk with power anyway so my only question today is- CAN I HAVE 10 MILLION PLEASE! - Because if yahoo has 200 billion to spend, maybe they can give me 10 million.

Stay tuned for more developments in this story as this could be a huge shift to the Internet community.

Go Compare LogoInsurance company Gocompare.com look to have secured there place back in the top 5 positions of googles SERP’s for the keyword “car insurance”, After being heavily penalised by Google for practicing blackhat link building techniques involving link purchasing to boost there PR. It is said to be that although they were dropped for about six weeks it shows they have cleaned up there act and have received only minimal punishment from Google. A little warning to Go Compare is that they are very lucky and this shows the reason why you should always perform SEO as per Google’s guidelines.

It is reportedly stated that Go Compare actually lost about 84% of there traffic giving there competitiors a major income boost over the past few week, it is also sending a spark warning as to how powerful Google actually are for either making or braking an online business.

Keyword Placement for Your Content

Are you looking for that perfect secret formula that the people who hold those top spots on the search engines use?  Well I’m going to give it to you today so that you can start writing your content in this way to get you to the top of the list.  Of course when used in combination with off site SEO this can really help you get traffic to your site.

Most people concentrate on more than one set of keywords per page, which is fine, but you will need to define your main keyword before starting to write your content and then put your other phrases in order after that making sure you are only concentrating on 3 at the most.  So lets say your main keyword is labeled A and the next two are labeled B and C.

You want to have A located in the very first sentence of your content to get the most attention from the search engines.  The closer to the beginning the better.  Now continue on with your first paragraph and make sure you use keywords B and C before starting your next paragraph.

Now in the second paragraph, place keyword A in the first sentence and then continue on naturally.  In the third paragraph use keyword B naturally in your text.  Paragraph 4 should include keyword C somewhere in it before moving on.

In the next few paragraphs use your keywords (A, B, and C) naturally and no more than 2-3 times each before getting to the closing lines of your article. Try to make at least 4 more paragraphs to use your keywords in, and the search engines love lots of content so the more paragraphs the better.

In your last paragraph, it gets a little tricky but nothing you can’t handle, you’ve already gotten this far, you can do it!  This time we are going to use keyword C in the first sentence followed by keyword B and then keyword A should be as close to the end of your closing lines as possible.

Using this method will allow you to get the most out of your keywords in each article you write, giving you the proper keyword density.  Remember the more content you have the better and the easier it is to use the keywords you are targeting.

Does Google Show Favoritism to the .com Extension?

How does Google and other major search engines feel about domain name extensions? They don’t show favoritism and they certainly aren’t prejudice to any of them from what I can tell from reading on the webmaster forums.

Does Google like .com’s more than any other tld extension
?
No, they don’t. It just so happens that .com’s have been around much longer than .info’s have been so you naturally you are going to see more of those come up in the search engines. Many webmasters have found their way to the #1 spot on Google and other search engines with a .info extension so that pretty much tells us that Google likes all extensions equally.

What is important to Google is the content you have on your website. If you are continuously providing good content and working on your SEO, then your .info will rise to the top.

Keep registering those keyword rich domain names no matter what extension they have, as long as they work for you, go for it!
