Google always take special effort to bring something new for their users. One of the recent expansions they made to their search process is the introduction of scanned documents. They have declared that, Google will be including scanned documents in their search results.
This new innovation from the giants requires advanced technology, processing and image recognition technology. The main difference between the standard text documents and these scanned files will be the absence of text data indexed by Google’s spiders.
Google is trying to make use of OCR technology, which will convert word photos into digital text files. In the past, Google used only the titles and related metadata of documents, when a search was performed. This reduced the relevance of information, with respect to the query word, as displayed to the users. In the latest method, Google will be looking for the text included within the images scanned. This will increase the performance of the search engine and the quality of the results displayed to the users.
When users get the scanned document in their search result, they will be able to view it in its original form, which could be a PDF format or a converted text file.
